“I don’t always set out with a specific message in mind,” Laiba explains, “However, I aim to capture the viewer’s attention, encouraging them to pause, observe, and reflect on what they see.”
The Creative Spark: Unveiling Laiba’s Process
Laiba’s artistic process is as spontaneous as her inspiration. Ideas can strike at any time, in any place. However, when it comes to translating those ideas onto canvas, she thrives in a solitary environment.
“My creative process is quite spontaneous; ideas often come to me in the most unexpected moments and places,” she explains, “However, I prefer to work alone in my (room) studio space, where I can fully immerse myself in the creative flow.”
There’s a sense of freedom and vulnerability in this solitary process. Free from external distractions, Laiba allows herself to be fully present with the emotions and experiences that fuel her art. This vulnerability translates onto the canvas, creating a rawness that connects deeply with viewers.
Art as a Catalyst for Change: Sparking Dialogue on Social Issues
Laiba’s art isn’t just about personal reflection; it’s also about sparking dialogue on social issues. She believes art has the power to influence and inspire people to confront important problems.

This belief is echoed in her work. One impactful piece addressed the political situation in Pakistan during election days. Another powerful example is a collaborative installation created with three peers in response to the Gaza genocide.
“The life-sized coffins we displayed at a busy road got many viewers to stop and reflect on their own silence and inaction” Laiba recalls. “Through this, I witnessed firsthand how art can spark awareness and dialogue about critical social issues.”
Beyond the Canvas: Art Kaari and Empowering Women
Laiba’s passion for social change extends beyond her paintings. She co-founded Art Kaari, a fashion label dedicated to driving social change, particularly focusing on women’s issues.“Breaking stereotypes fashionably” their tagline perfectly captures their mission. Each piece is thoughtfully designed, aiming to make a statement and raise awareness about social issues. Their clothing is not just art; it’s a platform for empowerment.
The Journey Ahead: Dreams and Challenges for a Female Artist
Laiba Tanveer’s journey as an artist is far from over.
“I take life one day at a time”, she says, “but my goal as an artist is to keep creating and making a difference and represent my country on a global level.”
Her ambition extends beyond personal success; she hopes her work can inspire others. “Same time, If my work can give even the smallest bit of hope and courage to someone, then I consider it a success.”
However, her path isn’t without challenges. Laiba stated that “Women in the art world often face gender bias, leading to under representation in galleries and exhibitions. They struggle with unequal recognition and valuation compared to their male counterparts. Additionally, balancing professional careers with societal expectations and domestic responsibilities can pose significant challenges.”
Despite these obstacles, Laiba remains optimistic. “Women are incredibly resilient,” she states. “They excel because of their consistency, hard work, and ability to navigate complex situations.”
Her approach to overcoming these challenges is one of strength and proactiveness. “Advocating for change starts with mindset,” she says. “I train myself to stay strong and proactive. I make it a point to speak up and take action, not only for myself but also for others who might be struggling.”
